Phantasmagorical Thurible

To me, Catholicism is the practice of following Jesus’s steps in faith. I like to show and express some symbols and maybe a story from the bible in some of my works. But, with this project I will be using nostalgia within my relationship with Catholicism. One thing I would like to focus on in this project is the thurible. The thurible is an incense burner that a range of religions (not only Christian) use in practice of purification. The use of the thurible was always interesting and is such a pretty way to display the burning and smoke. It is said that the smoke are your sins being destroyed and your prayers sent up to God. Incense comes from the Latin term “incendere” which means “to burn”, I think this is an interesting way to think about incense as to burning off sin.
